7 minutes back in time...

A Trip Down Market Street - April 1906

Courtesy: Prelinger Archives

San Francisco's main thoroughfare as seen from the front window of a moving Market Street cable car, just before the downtown area was destroyed by the 1906 earthquake and fire. This unusual record has been called the first "structural film" because it follows exactly the externally imposed structure of the car ride.

I wonder if the music was apart of daily life there during that time :P

So interesting to see how life around there normally functioned and extremely shocking to realize that just 7 minutes later, all hell broke loose.

Absolutely fascinating! History unravelling in front of your eyes. Not Kings and Queens but real people going about their everyday lives.

Just one question where does la femme d'argent the money woman come in?

Thank you, Jasmin. My seven minute reference was actually to the length of the film. But it was taken just prior to everything being destroyed by earthquake & fire.

Saffron, I believe this is a silent film and whoever posted it must like Air's Moon Safari album! I do too, actually. :) The song chosen goes very well with it...may have been a matter of finding a song lasting 7 minutes, 10 seconds?
