I thought perhaps this song might inspire you in your Tinker story, and give you inspiration on Layla. This of course isn't the original version when Eric Clapton was with Derek and the Dominos. Duane Alman of the Alman Brothers played on that track, and engineered the arrangement as well. The rest is history. I believe that is Mark Knopfler of Dire Straits on guitar and Phil Collins on drums playing as well.
