In Rememberance.......

As I put this post in the blog, it is already a new day in many parts of the world. This is however as most know,the 10th anniversary of the terrorist attacks in the United States, in New York, Washington D.C, and in a farming community in Shanksville,Pennsylvania. This was not the the first terrorist act in the U.S, but by far the worst. The incredible loss of life is incalculable

The terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001 resulted in 2,996 deaths, including the 19 hijackers and 2,977 victims.[1] The victims were distributed as follows: 246 on the four planes (from which there were no survivors), 2,606 in New York City in the towers and on the ground, and 125 at the Pentagon.[2][3] All the deaths in the attacks were civilians except for 55 military personnel killed at the Pentagon.[4] These numbers do not account for the unborn killed with pregnant women.

More than 90 countries lost citizens in the attacks on the World Trade Center.[5] Notably, the United Kingdom lost 67 (including the British overseas territory of Bermuda), the Dominican Republic lost 47 and India 41. In 2007, the New York City medical examiner's office added Felicia Dunn-Jones to the official death toll from the al-Qaeda terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. Dunn-Jones died in February 2002 from a lung condition which was linked to exposure to dust during the collapse of the World Trade Center.[6] Leon Heyward, who died of lymphoma in 2008, was added to the official death toll in 2009.[

Those on flight 93, decided to take control of their aircraft, and crash it, in Shanksville, Pa, rather then allow it to be used as a weapon against others. They uttered those words, “ lets roll “ and with that, fought to take control of their aircraft. A monument has been built to immortalize their sacrifice.The innocent passengers on these flights had no idea they were about to be thrust onto the battle front of terrorism. The passengers on flight 93 decided to respond with a message of their own.


There were so many hero's that day, from all walks of life, but mainly the firefighters and police and security officers there. These people knew very well their lives were in danger, but risked everything for their fellow human beings. The first responders were certainly hero's and represent the best that we can ever hope to be. There would have been an even greater loss of life, if not for these brave, selfless souls, who gave everything of themselves to save others. The number of first responders lost is luckily, comparatively small when compared to the even greater number who risked their lives.






Our thoughts and prayers for those who have fallen, and those family and friends left behind, and also a huge word of thanks to all those who answered the call to help in any way they could. We will never forget.
