Saffron does Saint Tropez II

You will recall last time we were in the middle of The Saint Tropez la Bravade celebrations. Rather unwisely, at least to my mind the French soon took to the boats maybe to celebrate the arrival of Saint Tropez……

The French being the French there was lots of posing….

…lots of hugging…………..

and of course lashings of kissing…..

I was especially pleased to see I wasn’t the only woman photographer present. After years of photography being a male preserve it really is good to see so many women getting involved.

There are no prizes for guessing what these guys were looking at….

This young lady in her cute bonnet only had eyes for one young man. Frankly I’d be inclined to ask him to stand nearer to his razor if he was mine…..

Some French women had decided to look quintessentially French…

Even the coastguard got involved. I must admit I do like French uniforms, especially the kepi (what Bob Dylan would call a pill box hat) although my all time favourites are undoubtedly the Legion Étranger Parachutiste.

It was good to see the British were there in force no doubt cementing the Entente Cordiale

There was one vintage yacht I hung around shamelessly waiting to be invited on board but sadly they managed to ignore me…..

The Japanese were there in force as usual. I guess now with the reactor disasters many of them will be spending even more time on holiday …. anyway it was an opportunity to collect a bum for Mary.

In case Mary prefers American bums I collected a brace of those too…….

Perhaps one of the saddest parts of the recession is that American tourists don’t have the money they used to and this pair was forced to share their lunch. I watched as they slowly chewed towards the middle, but out of decency looked away as they reached their last bite.

I also checked out some of the art for Camille…..

.. and some of the top guitarists for Nicky…..

Of course with so much music in the air some of the women felt constrained to dance…

…as well as all the big designer labels there were some clothes on sale at sensible prices and I bagged myself a new outfit, one that would boost my reputation as a scarlet women……….. anyone guess which one….?

There was a lot of art on sale but to my eye a lot of it looked unfinished….

Nothing like lashings of sienna and ochre to remind you that you are in the south of France….

There were also lots of young Americans about but with the dollar having been roundly abused by the rampant euro all they could do was sit and watch….

Sadly I had four hours before my next flight and I still had work to do…..

(to be continued)

Great stuff as always Saffy. I'm sorry I've not commented in ages but I lost my blogger password. I know it's my age.

I love looking at the world through your eyes Saffy. You really should be writing for a far bigger readership.

I agree with Dan, Saffy. Your pictures capture the essence of the area, times, and people, like an artist does with canvas. I also love your writing and narratives as they also bring your pictures to life. Well done .
