Formerly known as the Cincinnati-Covington Bridge, it is rich with interesting history! What I find most amazing is the fact only two men died during its construction and that the toll for horse and buggy was 15 cents to cross, and pedestrians just a penny! Allison, did you take this awesome photo?
yeah, a friend and I walked ALL OVER downtown today and I took a ton of pictures
little known fact...bridges make me nervous...this bridge and an interesting adventure for me because my friend conned me into climbing between the blue cables to get to the grated road on the bridge...wasn't a fan of plotting and planning each step while watching the raised river under foot...lol
I can certainly relate to that. I remember as a child while visiting at my step grandma's house, the regularlly scheduled program on the telly was interrupted by breaking news. It showed a huge bridge collapsing in real time and I was horrified witnessing cars and people crashing and falling, then being swallowed up by the waters below. Ever since then I've been afraid of bridges. If I can't avoid them and have no choice but to cross over, to this day it still raises the little hairs on the back of my neck and gives me the heebie-jeebies. TMI, I'm sure. LOL
