I saw Blue October back in 2009 at some bar along the Guadalupe river. I sat down a a local bar in San Marcos not too long ago and had a few beers with Justin Furstenfeld. Little did I know he had battled bipolar disorder most of his life.
I'm rendered speechless sometimes at the stirring emotions of not just this one, but many of his songs. Through not only the lyrics, but the beauty of passion in his voice. He is a fantastic source of inspiration! I daresay his bi-polarism may well feed his unique creativity. Myself and other poet/artist friends oft wonder if we'd be able to produce anything of substance were we not afflicted.
