Warren Zevon

I was chatting with Saffy earlier today and mentioned Zevon. Saffy never heard of him and he is often known for songs such as "Werewolves of London", "My Shit's Fucked Up", and "Roland the Headless Thompson Gunner" (Patty Hearst...heard the burst...of Roland's Thompson Gun and bought it) even though he was serious song writer, with a morbid sense of humor.

Anyway, Warren was a wild child...womanizer...party animal... who ended up with a terminal case of cancer. He managed to finish one last album "The Wind" before his death and it included a couple of songs that always touched me. Knowing he was nearing death, gave him a chance to rethink his life and past decisions which he incorporated into a couple of songs.

Beautiful songs, special for their simplicity and delivery but incredibly poignant given the circumstances. Thank you very much for another American artist to add to my collection. Not a dry eye in the house…..who could decline to stay?

This is exceptionally moving, Jenny, especially the second song. It's a crying shame so many do not embrace subtle wake up calls or evaluate what's most important in life until faced with the prospect of themselves or their loved ones dying. Thank you for sharing this.
