For Lisa

I once had a rose named after me and I was very flattered. But I was not pleased to read the description in the catalogue: no good in a bed, but fine up against a wall.

Eleanor Roosevelt

(Generally I have a bad memory Lisa, but I have a habit of remembering things that are important. I’d never heard of Eleanor Roosevelt until I met you and that albeit unwittingly became your contribution to my education.)

What's wrong with up on a wall now and then? Saffron, you are hugging and sending me flowers? From your own garden. What's next? Oh baby, after all these years!

I will stop myself from explaining why she was a remarkable woman for womens rights, humanitarian work etc (after discovering her husband was cheating and demanding a divorce)
Has anyone read her letters to Lorena Hickock? Now, most of the juicy ones were burnt by the family when they were discovered, however if you read the book (ok, I read some things), there is no way on this earth you cant tell me they were not a couple. It's a shame it was hidden. There was exact lines I have written to gf's in the past. The feelings are deep yet also hidden. I am sure you actually know more than one of her quotes, she has hundreds, even if you dont realise it

She was truely remarkable with all that she did and all that she was.
