POLICE SEIZE BARBIE!

Iranian Police have closed down dozens of toy shops for selling Barbie dolls, as part of a crackdown on "manifestations of western culture."

Surprisingly Barbie dolls have been sold wearing swimsuits and miniskirts in a society where women must wear headscarves in public, and men and women are not allowed to swim together.

Iran has introduced its own dolls – twins Dara and Sara, designed to promote traditional values with modest clothing and pro-family values – but these have proved unable to stem the Barbie tide.

One mother said: ‘My daughter prefers Barbies…… she says Dara and Sara look fat and ugly.'

A government-backed children's agency called Barbie a "Trojan horse," sneaking in western influences such as makeup and revealing clothes.

Despite a ban on many western books, movies, satellite TV channels, music, haircuts and fashion, young people maintain their interest in Western culture.

As yet the Coffee Shop has still to have an Iranian reader. Meanwhile I’m boxing up all my old Barbies and equipping them with radiological suits ready to send to Iran in case they are needed.
