80,000 HITS!
Eighty thousand hits! Yes I said ‘hits’ not…….. It barely seems conceivable that we would hit these heady heights when we tentatively set out in the world of Blogging nearly two years ago. It only seems like yesterday and yet during that time we have had nearly four thousand posts!
Here we have laughed and cried and shared our misfortunes and successes. Friends have come and gone in the natural course of events and we have still managed to continue - a miracle in its own way as we are all busy people.
We have had picture portfolios, stories, poetry, humour, virtually the whole gamut of human endeavour has been embraced here at one time or the other. Many of the posts have frequently deserved a far greater audience. But unlike some Blogs our mission has always been to support, share and enrich lives, as opposed to massaging individual egos.
It has never been plain sailing. Jealousy is often the tribute paid to any successful endeavour and we have had our fair share of stalkers, flamers and trolls. We have been hacked, had our confidential e-mails misused, witnessed staged exits and even been copied, but that only underscores our success, as imitation is surely the sincerest form of flattery.
Nevertheless we cannot buck the trend. We are subject to the cruel vicissitudes of the product cycle like everyone else. We have been through our growth and maturity stages, the world moves on and latterly we have clearly entered the saturation and decline phase. And while our Empire may not last for a thousand years we have surely had our finest hour and for that we must be grateful.
However, the old dog is not down yet. We still have approximately 500 page views a week, even though once we used to have that many in a day and two thousand page views a month when once we had that in a week.
Nevertheless our audience still remains respectable and it’s heartening as well as interesting to see a steady increase in readers from Russia, France and Germany, to whom we say… Приветствовать, bienvenue and willkommen.
Certainly our top bodice rippers like ‘Donna’ and the irrepressible humour of some of our Bloggers has helped to stem the tide and Auntie Jill is now getting a steady four or five letters a week excluding those claiming we have won a lap-top, i-phone or twelve billion dollars, or the usual whackos etc.
I am no longer able to devote the time to the Blog that I used to and the continuing success of the Blog is now more than ever clearly due to seven or eight stalwart and loyal friends who have made this Blog what it is. So many thanks to our Bloggers and all our readers for your continued contribution to our success. Please take a standing ovation, Allison, Dan, Jaye, Jenny, Linda, Monica and Nicky.

May I say thank you to you Saffy and to the others. Jenny, Monica Allison and Nicky as well as Linda and of course Dan! I love opening to the blog and seeing all of your talents and humor. Again, thank you all.
Saffron has always been the driving force behind this blog, she has set the tenor of it and encouraged so many people to participate. You're kind to mention some of us, Jaye, but the truth is without readers and commenters the blog would never be so rewarding for us all.
It's great fun to read the vast, eclectic range of 'stuff' that gets on here - do please let us sustain it.
