There's a wedding here today

The Royal Mail is in a parlous state. First class post rarely arrives the next day like it used to once. My posh frock has been laid out on the bed in the spare bedroom for two days now. I have an exquisite matching handbag and shoes…..I’m sure forget-me-not blue is my colour and yet here we are and my invite hasn’t arrived. So sorry folks I shan’t be able to report the wedding for the Blog.

Seriously like everyone else here I’m aware there’s a wedding going on today. After all there’s been a public holiday declared. I guess I would describe my attitude towards Royalty as neutral. Not a view taken as a result of reasoned argument, simply more one gleaned from observation. Increasingly they have made themselves an anachronism by working hard to stay aloof and out of touch and in same cases shamefully exploit their privilege.

Nonetheless it would be churlish not to recognise that Royal occasions give some people – not just here but all over the world enormous pleasure. And weddings are weddings and I do enjoy a good wedding. I hadn’t intended to watch, but as Mum is landing on me I’m not going to get much choice.

As a young couple I’m sure whatever our views we wish them well and it has to be said they do appear to be trying to move with the times.

It seems they will be playing Jerusalem and I’m all for that, so here at least it seems we agree.

Happy Wedding Day to one and all.
