Happy Birthday Saffron !!!!!!!!

Like most, I have been watching the series Saffy has been writing entitled, “ memoirs of a lit girl “ I, again, like most, also have memories of that site known as lit as well. My memories center around a collection of people that I came to know,admired, and became friends with. It will come as no surprise that one of the central people in that group was none other than Saffron. I discovered Saffy was from the U.K, and thought her to be somewhat cheeky. The truth is, The laughter and great times that were in abundance there, in lit, were due in large part to the presence of Saffy, Jess, Wanda-Whitestar, Allison, Liss, Jas, and Mary, and many others. Saffy is the original " Bossy Boots " which always makes me laugh.

I soon discovered over a short period of time, much like a beautiful flower, how many layers there were to Saffy. I still think she is cheeky, but possesses a keen Intellect, not to mention a big heart, and a great sense of humor, and fun.Saffy has always been loyal, and I found myself leaning on her advice more than once. Saffy and I shared many common experiences and thoughts on a variety of subjects, which only endeared her more to me. We became fast friends, and talked about everything, and anything, and I largely felt I had known her all my life.





I watched-not so silently, as Saffy had to endure some difficulties as her first efforts in the original blog went forward. Saffy showed a character and grace in the face of adversity, that would have wilted a lesser person. I also had a first hand glimpse, of that which has been termed, “ the English stiff upper lip “, and was perhaps one of Saffy's finest moments. I was gratified to see that a great number of people Saffy had come to know, had come out to support her greatly. I thought then, as I do now, that it shouldn't surprise me Saffron would know people of such integrity and character.

Saffron and I came to lit, at about the same time. I was fortunate to have made Wanda's acquaintance, as she was incredibly helpful to me,in navigating the murky waters of lit. We all had a great deal of fun there. It was very easy to picture all of us sitting in a coffee shop,or someone's living room,or kitchen, together, laughing at the days events. I found I had grown up a lot, and my views on a variety of things had changed, due in large part, to my friendship with Saffy. I found it odd, to think that such growth should occur somewhere as murky as lit, only to discover, it was the incredible people I was fortunate enough to meet, that made that growth happen.

I went through some difficult times in my personal life-nights in which I laid awake, awaiting the dawn, figuratively, and literally. Allison was always there and helped immensely. I don't think I would have been able to get through them, without the love and support of Saffy. The calming influence saffy gave me has, tamed some very rough waters. For me, the world would have been a much darker place without her. I somehow don't believe that the words thank you cover all she has been to me.

I wanted to take the occasion of your birthday, to not only honor you, but all you have been, to many, Including myself
