A little bit of England III

Continuing with our trip around the City of Chester


From up on the walls you get a lot better view of the town.



...including the architectural detail...


.. the walls twist and turn and invlove quite a few steps.....

especially where the walls cross the City's gate-houses......

.. below can be seen the ruins of the Roman gatehouse...

...and even what is left of a Roman ampitheatre...


....plus a good example of Roman underfloor central heating! To be continued.
